Locked out is a normal thing to be.

That is a high risk recovery. It needs two people to agree: Jon and a named trusted custodian. It is written into the audit record, and it never opens anyone’s direct messages.
No recovery route, of any kind, gives anyone access to direct messages they are not part of.
Recovery links are single use and short lived. Using one ends every session you had open.
